of 5— Obtain both versions of the criteria document
What you'll accomplish
A criteria version comparison that used to take 45 minutes of manual review now takes 10 minutes with Claude Pro's long-context window. Before your next team briefing, you'll know exactly what changed, what was removed, and what new documentation requirements apply.
What you'll need
- {{tool:Claude.plan}} subscription ({{tool:Claude.price}}). The free tier has a shorter context window that may not fit two full criteria documents; Pro is recommended for this task
- PDF or text versions of the old and new criteria documents (usually emailed by your UM system vendor or accessed via your payer portal)
- Time needed: 20 minutes to learn the workflow; 10 minutes per criteria comparison after that
- Cost: {{tool:Claude.price}} for Pro
How-To Guide: Comparing Criteria Versions with Claude Pro
Step 1: Obtain both versions of the criteria document
When InterQual or MCG releases a quarterly update, you typically receive:
- An email from your UM platform vendor (Optum, MCG Health) with a summary PDF
- Access to the full updated criteria through your clinical decision support system
Request both the current and previous version from your UM platform administrator if you don't have both.
